What Renters Like and Dislike About Hawthorne District Portland

its has 1 bar that is not a fun place but you can get drunk and its walkable . it doesnt have any homeless or crime but ut does have a bunch of hipsters

I like that it has such good access to the freeways going either direction. It has access to both mahor freeways easily, and no back ups in local traffic.

Live between popular streets. Lots to eat and shop for. Walkable neighborhood. The street fairs throughout the year are the stars of the show.

My neighborhood is generally quiet. There are two grocery stores nearby. There are plenty of bars and food you can walk to. It is 2 miles from downtown.

We love our neighbors and our 100+ year old houses. The park and community garden are nearby. We shop at Powell's books, and drink coffee at several coffee shops. Favorite restaurants are the Bagdad and Bread and Ink. We grocery shop at Fred Meyer and New seasons. We see films at the Bagdad. We shop at Goodwill and Twill and Sloan, and at Presents of Mind .

It is very close to schools and restaurants so you could walk to anything you wanted to go to and public transportation is everywhere.

Getting to Know Hawthorne District, OR

The Hawthorne District is one of those quirky, laid back and culturally diverse communities Portland is known for. With access to some of the best people watching out there, you'll never be bored of things to do. If people watching isn't your thing, opt for a show at the Bagdad Theatre & Pub or stroll through one of the many shops and restaurants.

Although it is becoming more pricey, Hawthorne is a great area to raise a family, ride your bike to work (unless you have a commute; the highways aren't as close) and embrace the counterculture that still exists in many areas of PDX.
