Living in Louisville, KY

Old Louisville is a lovely area dotted with small businesses and embellished with Tudor-style homes. Apartments for rent in Old Louisville are down the street from a variety of restaurants and the wonderfully green Central Park. Residents can also enjoy the multiple cultural establishments that grace the neighborhood. 

OLD LOUISVILLE RECREATION

Central Park is a very large green area on Park Ave on S 4th Street. It is home to a gorgeous amphitheater that holds free Shakespeare plays in the summer, and the information center offers meeting spaces for groups in the neighborhood. The park also features a playground, six tennis courts, and a volleyball court. Picnic tables allow for group gatherings on sunny days, and a precinct of the police department operates out of the park, making it a safe area for families and friends. 

There's also plenty of fishing opportunities near Old Louisville. Cherokee Park, which has a 4.6 acre lake, is just a 12 minute drive from the neighborhood. This park also sports three basketball courts, bike paths, and hiking trails, so there's no shortage of activities. 

Right in Old Louisville is the St. James Court Art Show, an annual exhibition of hundreds of artists from around the country. The art show has been occurring for over 50 years, and raises money for various scholastic programs as well as provides the neighborhood with a significant cultural presence. 

EDUCATIONAL OPPORTUNITIES NEAR OLD LOUISVILLE

There are multiple child day care centers in Old Louisville, including Downtown Child Care Inc and Genesis Child Development Center, that take care of residents' little ones when they're away. Families residing in Old Louisville apartment rentals with older children have the option of sending their kids to Jefferson Public Schools or More Grace Christian Academy, both of which are within walking distance of apartments in Old Louisville. There is also a prestigious youth performing arts school that caters to elementary school-, middle school-, and high school-aged children.
