Dupont Circle is a traffic circle, park and an established neighborhood located in the center of Washington D.C. It is a very walkable area within close proximity to a variety of museums, trendy boutiques, private art galleries and some of the city's best restaurants and bars. The circle itself is a community gathering space and a favorite spot to read, play chess, and people-watch. One of D.C.'s most popular places to live, rentals in the area are a mix of mid-sized apartment buildings and units in renovated hundred-year old brick row houses. Many properties feature historic architecture with modern amenities such as rooftop decks, valet garage parking and 24-hour concierge services. It is one of the city's most expensive neighborhoods.


Dupont Circle has a relatively diverse population although the neighborhood is more geared to childless professionals than families. The community has a vibrant energy and sponsors seasonal events such as First Friday Art Walks, the Capital Pride Parade, Dupont-Kalorama Museum Walk Weekend, the DCCA House Tour and impromptu snowball battles. Historic Landmarks and Points of Interest

The Dupont Circle neighborhood is listed on the National Register of Historic Places and is home to numerous embassies, many of which are located in historic residences. The Thomas T. Gaff House serves as the Colombian ambassador's residence, and the Walsh-McLean House is home to the Indonesian embassy. Located east of Dupont Circle on Massachusetts Avenue is the Embassy of Uzbekistan, and the Emily J. Wilkins House, which formerly housed the Australian embassy and now is occupied by the Peruvian Chancery. Other landmarks in the Dupont Circle area include the National Geographic Museum, Brewmaster's Castle, Woodrow Wilson House, and the Phillips Collection, a museum of modern art. Dupont Circle is also home to some of the nation's most prestigious think tanks and research institutions, including the Brookings Institution, the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace, the Aspen Institute, the German Marshall Fund, the Center for Global Development, the Stimson Center, and the Peterson

Getting Around

Dupont Circle is conveniently located on the Metro Red Line. There are two entrances: north of the circle at Q Street NW and south of the circle at 19th Street NW. By bus, you can take the 42, 43, L1 and L2 Metrobus routes or the Dupont Circle-Georgetown-Rosslyn DC Circulator route. Capital Bikeshare has multiple docks located within the neighborhood. Street parking is hard to find and residents with cars are best served by reserved parking spaces. Reagan National Airport is just 5 miles south and Dulles International is 27 miles west.


The Dupont Circle area is a trendy historic area and one of the city's most convenient places to live. It is a very densely-built area and there's not much that's brand new. Located about a mile north of the White House, this area has great access to all of the most popular attractions in the nation's capital.
