The Hawthorne District is one of those quirky, laid back and culturally diverse communities Portland is known for. With access to some of the best people watching out there, you’ll never be bored of things to do. If people watching isn’t your thing, opt for a show at the Bagdad Theatre & Pub or stroll through one of the many shops and restaurants.
Although it is becoming more pricey, Hawthorne is a great area to raise a family, ride your bike to work (unless you have a commute; the highways aren’t as close) and embrace the counterculture that still exists in many areas of PDX.
