Best schools Seattle

As part of our ongoing series helping renters find the best value apartments near the best public schools, Apartment Guide is taking a look at Seattle.

The Emerald City runs along a north-south route defined by geography, but the best parts of town for parents looking for educational value from their dollars are only found in one direction: North.

The highest rated schools are to the north and east of Seattle in a broad swath, with that swath shrinking in diameter once you factor in rent to try and identify the most affordable options.

However, one area in particular stands out – the Shoreline region. Home to many of Seattle’s best values, it’s the most appealing part of town as measured by our data.

To help figure out which specific properties give the best value, we’ll use average property rent and school ratings throughout the Seattle area and identify our picks for each grade level.

Top neighborhoods for high-rated schools

Viewing school ratings by neighborhood allows us to find the areas with superb overall schools, rather than just identifying one-off instances of an individually exemplary school. By this metric, Downtown Mercer Island is the neighborhood in Seattle that is closest to the best overall schools.
