Even though you can shop online, it’s criminal not to make an in-store visit to Criminal Records in Little Five Points. This eclectic neighborhood is home to one of the finest record shops around. They’ve got old stuff, new stuff and a whole lot of good stuff. Their blog-style website and Facebook page keep you in the loop about cool bands playing in the neighborhood, as well as alerting you to new album releases on the way.

Wax N’ Facts
This hip spot — right down the street from Criminal Records – gives you easy access to cool vinyl in Atlanta. Open since 1976, Wax N’ Facts has a stellar jazz section and great prices on all kinds of old and new records from big-name artists. They specialize in used vinyl; if you are looking for something unique, this is the place to go. The store also hosts cool in-store events and performances.

Decatur CD is just a stone’s throw away from the two stores in Little Five Points, and the short drive to Decatur is totally worth it. DCD stocks new releases and maintains a deep catalog of the classics of rock and roll and other musical genres. The helpful, knowledgable staff at this haven for local listeners is always happy to order special selections for their customers. (Watch out for the Security Chicken!)

Even upscale Atlanta neighborhoods like Buckhead love to jam to vintage vinyl and used CDs. For a heady hi-fi experience, motor over to Fantasyland Records on Pharr Road. They also carry new vinyl, movie and music posters, and other memorabilia. One Yelp fan even found KISS army action figures in the original packaging. (Now that is a fantasy!)

Most folks in Atlanta know that some of the coolest bands in the country call Athens home. Wuxtry Records originally opened in Athens, Ga., in 1976 and then branched out with an Atlanta location in 1978. They’ve been buying, selling and trading records for decades and are experts on genres like reggae, world music, authentic country, bluegrass and classical music. And their prices are excellent, too.
