Introducing our newest guest blogger, Victoria from Dazzle While Frazzled. Her blog focuses on great DIY projects you can do to make your home fabulous, oftentimes with limited funds and/or crafting skills. Think of it as crafts anyone can do! Today she'll be sharing how to create simple no sew felt autumn pillows.
Throw pillows are an easy way to add pops of color to your home and showcase your personal style. Switching out pillow covers allows you to decorate for the various seasons and holidays throughout the year without accumulating bulky pillows.
Print out the fall leaves template. Cut out and trace (or pin with straight pins) onto the felt sheets. For an 18×18” pillow, you will need approximately a variety of 26 leaves.
Arrange the leaves on the pillow in a layout you like best. Get creative! A great crafting supply is Liquid Stitch (otherwise known as fabric glue), which is a permanent clear drying adhesive that is ideal for no sew projects. Apply the glue to the backside of the leaves and adhere to the pillow.
Use the pumpkin template to print and trace onto an orange felt sheet. Similarly, use the template to create a small brown felt stem.
Use a small round template such as a shot glass to create a variety of felt circles in autumn colors.
Once all the felt pieces are cut out, use the Liquid Stitch to glue the pumpkin stem to the pillow. If desired, use a small piece of pom-pom binding to apply in a curlicue fashion to the stem. The same effect can be gained with felt.
With these pieces secured to the pillow, glue the orange pumpkin.
Adhere the felt polka dots in a whimsical fashion you like best.
Within an hour, you can create custom autumn pillows for a fraction of the cost of the seasonal décor sold in home goods stores. Happy Pumpkin Spice Season!
