The spookiest holiday of the year is right around the corner! And to really prepare yourself, decorating your apartment is a must. Apart from your costume, what better way to decorate for Halloween than with a classic icon? Here's a cool piece of Halloween bat decor that you can make yourself.
Here are the supplies you'll need for your DIY Halloween bat decorations, most you probably already have on hand:
Once you've gathered your supplies, simply follow these easy steps and you'll have Halloween bat decor for your apartment in no time!
If you don't feel confident in free-handing the design, you can print one, cut it out and trace it onto the paper. You can draw as many or as few bats as you'd like, depending on the size of the decoration you want. If you'd like, you can also use a mix of different sizes of bats to add some variety.
You can add a little bit of sparkle to a few bats by brushing them with school glue and sprinkling them with glitter. Or you can draw designs on them with glue and add glitter to them that way. Let the glue dry before moving forward with the next steps.
These folds give your bats a 3-D effect.
If it's leaning too far forward or backward, you can adjust the folds so the wings balance it out, or you can experiment with the placement of the hole and string.
We used a plastic skeleton hand, but you can use anything you'd like. Another spooky idea is to spray paint a small tree branch black, and use that to hang the bats.
If you want to hang it from the ceiling but don't have a hook already there and want to avoid nailing decorations to your walls or ceiling, you can use a command hook, and it won't leave a mark when it's time to take it down.
Just like there are many ways to decorate a pumpkin, this isn't the only way to make a cool DIY bat decoration for Halloween — you can put your own spin on it! Instead of black, you can use other seasonal colors of construction paper, like purple and orange.
Or, rather than putting the bats onto a hanger, you can hang them from bookshelves or the backs of chairs. You can easily modify this to fit in with your apartment and Halloween decorating themes.
