As far as the staff at Adaire they are wonderful and like family. Milady, Anthony, Haron and Debbie are so professional and caring!
Just moved in a week ago, we have a beautiful apartment with a great view. So far so good. The elevators are pretty fast for this kind of high building and I hope it stays the same. Love the idea of having nice and accommodating people in leasing office and cleaning stuff. Feels good and of course the location is amazing. Overall happy with everything and excited for the pool season to come :)
I did not have working heat in my apartment for 3 full months. While some folks in the leasing office are kind, the fact is they ignored my issue for an inordinate amount of time. I followed up in person, every day, for weeks to no avail. Finally after waiting 3 months, I got the Fairfax county authorities involved and the issue was resolved within 36 hours. The building has been cited for non-compliance by Fairfax county in the past, for issues such as failing to provide proper trash disposal for residents. When everything works, Adaire is a reasonably nice place to live. But if something breaks you will be in for a nightmare.
The gateway to green living!
I really wanted to like living here at the Adaire - it's a great building, front desk are fantastic, leasing office couldn't have been friendlier - and I really love my apartment. BUT... we've had only 2 elevators working now for weeks (1 out of order, another for people moving in - which as people are now moving out a lot, means it's effectively out of action). This means on average we're waiting 8 mins on a good day to get an elevator and then you end up stopping a fair proportion of floors on the way down. It's a way to meet fellow residents but not particularly enjoyable.
The apartment walls are very thin... when the people in the apartment above me are cheering on the football it's like having them on the couch right next to me.
I don't know what goes on in the top lounge on the roof-deck but at weekends we seemed to wake up on Sunday mornings to elevators that are trashed/with food smeared all over the floor. It's meant to be a no smoking apartment but I've smelt and seen people smoking in the corner on deck 8 (ironically right next to the gym) and I don't think what they were smoking was v. legal.
Add to that we have no trash shuts - and haven't had any for 3 weeks now.
And then we have a collection of boy-racers in F-type Jags and 'fast cars' hurtling around the multi-story or revving their engines and sitting in their cars smoking... as well as several residents who just obviously open their car doors and tip out their McDonalds trash - right into the car park.
it's a real shame. the building is amazing, the floorspace in apartments great - I've found maintenance to be fantastic at getting things done (although I appreciate with more people in the building now - things will take longer) and the gym is great too.
All in all I'm starting to get annoyed by it. Oh, and don't believe that mgmt. will get back to you - I emailed to ask when the elevators would be remedied and have yet to hear back.
