Northern Virginia Community College, an expansive system that has spread its resources throughout the suburbs of Washington, D.C., as offered student living in the region since the school opened in 1964. In the ensuing decades, NVCC has grown from approximately 800 students to more than 75,000, becoming the largest educational institution in Virginia, and the second largest mult-campus community college in the country. The college is comprised of six campuses and four learning centers throughout Northern Virginia, where student housing can be found. These locations include Alexandria, Annandale, Loudon, Manassas, Springfield, Woodbridge, Arlington, Reston, Innovation Park and ELI. The extensive reach of NVCC gives students a variety of residential options, including a dormitory, college apartment or other off campus housing in many of the commonwealth’s thriving centers.

Benefiting from its position near the nation’s capital in Washington, Northern Virginia Community College is one of the most internationally diverse colleges in the U.S., enrolling students from more than 180 countries. The eclectic interests of the study body are entertained by more than 160 degree programs offered at the associate’s level, in addition to a variety of certificate programs. Many individuals begin student living at NVCC in order to transfer to a four-year college after earning an associate’s degree. The institution has a track record of facilitating transfers to nearby colleges and universities including Geroge Mason, the University of Virginia, Verginia Tech and Old Dominion University.

The college’s first, and main campus, is located in Annandale, Virginia, in a neighborhood that includes a large network of public parks, riverside hiking trails, and the commercial areas that line Little River Turnpike. Off campus housing allows students to choose a neighborhood that best fits their needs, as they navigate between the North Virginia Community College campus, and the resources of Annandale.
