Birchwood At Boulders

Ive signed a lease with Birchwood in May. To my surprise, the apartment had not been cleaned at all. There were cobwebs, dead and living insects, layers of dirt, and debris everywhere. The toilet looked used and had stains and a ring in the bowl from previous use. Furthermore, I was misled by the leasing office who assured me that, although this was an old building, it would completely remodeled unit. This was not true. The apartment was almost entirely old interior and exterior structures that were just painted over, even the rusted vents, closets, and old metal shelves. The floor trims have not been replaced, although they had many holes, spaces and chipped areas. In fact, they were also just repainted. I have been told that the kitchen and bathroom cabinet and floorboards were new, but there were multiple areas of damage on the cabinets, paint splatters, misaligned cabinet doors, a large walnut-sized area that was chipped off from the surface of the bathroom counter, and spaces in the floorboards. The room and closet doors, the door handles, and the outlets were all visibly dated with some outlets having cracks, nothing was replaced. Some of the old doors didn't close properly. The kitchen and bathroom pipes and valves were old, worn and covered in crusted-over crud. There was two large holes in the dry wall beneath the bathroom sink and in the laundry room. The kitchen appliances were very old and worn, the refrigerator was being reinforced with cardboard and the dishwasher didn't close properly. There was no microwave. The state of the HVAC room was awful with a very old and very dirty system that I doubt is less than a decade old. The balcony was in a state of disarray, and it had cracked concrete and a large ant colony. Even outside the apartment, the trellises were broken and the external window shutters were caked with dirt. Although this is an old apartment building, it is not well maintained. The BH management company is known for poor management.

My wife and I were very happy with the process of leasing our new apartment. The customer service we received from Ashley, Kim, Courtney, and Sheneita was exceptional. Birchwood at the Boulders short term leasing option was just what we were looking for.

This is my 2nd winter here and my heating bills are sky-high but my apt is still cold. The windows may be new but they're very drafty. The doors don't fit tight so air comes in all around the doors; the walls are cold so I have to assume that there is no insulation in these buildings. The bright spot here is the maintenance dept; they respond quickly, even during off-hours and they're good at solving problems.

Nice place to live but you'll never be able to leave. You have to give 60 days' notice; if you don't give notice in time your rate doubles!! The rent has gone up about 10% this year - who's had a 10% raise in pay??

I have just moved in and so far I am happy. It is a warm inviting, and very family oriented community. The appartments are well designed and have a TON of closet space. Nice perks like an icemaker abs washer and dryer. The concierge trash pickup is worth the extra money. I love the fireplace and the layout is beutiful.
