The apartments, themselves boast luxury. Spacious open concept style living rooms and kitchen make the historic building feel modern and easy living. The Building, located on the corner of 22nd Street and Monticello Avenue, you get the best of both worlds! Brightleaf is not only in the Ghent neighborhood, but it is also walking distance to tons of awesome restaurants, bars, and shops! Just an quick walk to O'Connor Brewing, Mermaid Winery, 80/20 Burger Bar, and of course, Doumar's famous ice cream shop. However, there are too many restaurants and shops in walking distance to list!

A 15 minute drive to both the Norfolk Naval Shipyard in one direction, and the Norfolk Naval Station in the other, be in the middle of everything!
This is one of the worst apartments I have lived in and I have lived in a few for the past 10 years. They call these apartments luxury but they are the farthest thing from luxury. Appliances are suppose to be brand new yet they barely work. The pool is closed every other day for some new reason. You can hear everything and everyone around you. You can look up and literally see your neighbors floor, not the sub floor but their actual floor. The property manager is a joke. Crystal is never there, never responds to text, or emails. I have to call the main office and have them put me through to get anywhere with her. Do yourself a big favor and dont fall for the charm of this place like we did. So many people are breaking their leases and just paying the extra money, because honestly living here in unbearable!!!
If I was still in college: I'd probably have loved this place. Its party central and people are always having 'fun'. As it is, there is NO privacy, its loud, it smells, but it looks cool and the fact that your utilities are included in your rent would have been totally sweet if there weren't so many awful things. Just give lots of thought before committing to live here. I haven't slept through the night in weeks. I have a longer more detailed review on yelp.
