The ICON building isnt completed for anyone to move in. Yet they have allowed people to move in to a construction site. Management can care less if you have mold and broken windows. No one will help to assist. If you complain they will bully you to move out rather than fix the issues. Dont let their social media pages fool you they take down all negative comments.
This management team is the worst to work with. Get everything in writing because they are going to tell you one thing and then charge you something different. They will run you in circles and the apartments themselves look better in the photos
Too many kinks that still need to be worked out. That sell you on things that are inoperable most of the time and hide fees that aren't mentioned in the lease or the tour. Someone mentioned in another review that it feels like Section 8 housing sometimes and that's the most accurate thing I've read so far. So much potential, but they're just not there yet.
Terrible experience!! I read the reviews months ago and told the ICON that I needed my apartment completed BEFORE I moved in. Numerous emails to ICON and upper level managment assured me they had more than 2 months to complete my place. I called and email one month before move-in, 2 weeks, and one week before moving in and my place was still not done. Promises made and promises not kept. My place had holes in the bathroom, big dark circles on the ceiling which I dont know if it was water damage or what as they never explained it, the bathroom door didnt close (at all), trim had to be redone in several places, lights were not up, drawers and cabinets that would not shut or were warped, markings and hand prints over the walls and obviously needed to be repainted. I was promised before signing a contract that they would put a garbage disposal in cause it was weird it didnt have one, come to find out 2 days before moving in they couldnt because of rules with ADA which was not explained to me. Also promised shelving like other apartments but couldnt due to ADA issues. The day after we moved in we had 6 people in a small studio including contractors and workers and couldnt even use our own bathroom because they were working on it. They didnt finish everything and we left to give them some time to finish our place and are currently staying elsewhere. As of today no updates to whether or not they finished the place, finally got my mailbox number today cause the didnt know it on move in. Even the workers commented it wasnt right what ICON did to me. I explained to the ICON I am a little OCD and need things done right before move in, and didnt want people walking through fixing stuff after move in. It looks like they made the exact opposite of what I asked for happen. The lack of professionalism and empathy is grossly unacceptable. No concessions were offered and they make me feel like I am the one in the wrong. A total nightmare!
Really love the floor to ceiling windows, 2nd floor lounge, rooftop deck, and quiet HVAC units. Nothing is worse in other apartments than trying to sleep with noisy Ac or heating clunking on and off or a noisy hum while on. These units are quiet! They are currently working on acoustically insulating windows from neighboring units and this place is still a work in progress. I believe once all the amenities are complete there will be nothing like it in Hampton Roads. All of the elevators are supposed to be complete this summer and they are getting first floor restaurant. Pool tables, movie theater, spa and amazing gym, large TVs, wine cellar, on-site storage units, and just a cool place to hang out on the 2nd floor and rooftop lounge. We just signed a lease and are waiting for our unit to finish, but we also have friends living there that really like this place. Antonio and Caroline have been great through the application process and I know they strive for high standards and resolve issues when they come up. More than just an apartment, you are right across from Waterside, and like a block from Granby street or MacArthur Center.
