The Crossings at Short Pump: If you are considering an apartment at The Crossings at Short Pump run dont walk away. Once you are in an apartment its expensive and inconvenient to move. Management knows this and takes advantage. Be prepared for rent increases far beyond justified by inflation. My rent has increased by 290% times the CPI. Admittedly apartment rents have increased more than the overall CPI. However, rent at The Crossings has increased 181% more than apartment rentals in general. Read your lease carefully. Its written to managements advantage and they will take every opportunity to extract a few more dollars. The local staff at The Crossings in Short Pump is generally friendly and helpful. However, they must defer to GSC corporate on most decisions. Corporate staff is neither friendly or helpful. Their position is to enforce lease terms regardless of individual circumstances. The motto on their website says, Residents are people first. It should read, Residents are people to be exploited. My only experience is with The Crossing at Short Pump, but, since the policies are from corporate I assume the advice in the opening sentence applies to any property managed by GSC.
