Management and Corporate (Asset Living) is a joke. On move-in day our apartment was ridiculous dirty, the walls had holes in them, our bathroom smelled like a frat house basement and our kitchen was dirty af. The apartment was just crusty. The part where my bedroom doorframe came off after I shut my door and it fell on me is the best part of my apartment. Clearly, they do not know how to run an apartment complex. I do understand its student housing but come on guys this is just ridiculous. The internet is horrible and slow, I have had to call single digits at least a couple of times a month and they literally do nothing just like management. I have raised security concerns and amenity issues to management but they just look at you as if you're speaking a foreign language or something. If you want to live somewhere where you don't care about your living situation, The hills properties it is. If you want a good living experience, go live somewhere else.
Honestly if I could give 0 stars, I would.
My housemates and I moved into a DISGUSTING unit this Aug 2020 infested with roaches in the kitchen, living-room and a few in our bedrooms. There were roach carcasses and feces in all the cupboards, cabinets, floors, walls, literally everywhere. We had a few ants + a whole spider LIVING inside our microwave, and black mold or dust in our air vents. Now, I understand normal ware and tare but this was negligence. We told management and they sent out an exterminator *after* pestering them for a bit. We also had to practically argue with them to send in a cleaning crew to clean our kitchen even though part 3 of Title 55 of the Code of Virginia literally states that they had to do their part in moving us into a unit that had a clean common area. Since there was already a tenant living in the until, management decided to completely skip the walk-thru of the common because theres absolutely no way they did a walk-through and thought this was acceptable.
Well, shortly after, while still battling the pests, we find out that not only did we inherit a unit with a roach infestation, but there are also bed bugs... bed. bugs. we called management and the best they could offer us was to get an exterminator out to us but we had to clean everything that same day.... They offered us 0 accommodation, not even a hotel room or the model unit to sleep in for the night while they treated our unit. My roommates were forced to sleep in their cars. The icing on the cake? They decided to charge US the extermination fee. Ridiculous.
So basically almost 2 months since we moved in and we cant use our kitchen b/c of roaches everywhere (all our food and kitchen supplies have been in our bedrooms) and then we cannot use our bedrooms either due to the bed bugs... that were paying for. I asked Southview to move us into a new unit but they said they will charge us each a $200 fee... even though... they moved us into a unit with bed bugs and roaches...
