I have reached out to the Highlands at Huckleberry Ridge and received nothing back from them. This is not the way that business should be handled. I can only imagine how they treat their residents, seeing as how they do not even take the time to respond to a simple availability inquiry. I would give them zero stars, but it appears that you must select at least one star.
DO NOT LIVE HERE. I repeat - DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY LIVING HERE. The management is subpar and gives preferential treatment to certain tenets. I lived here last year while doing a master's program. We received numerous noise complaints regarding "doing laundry too late or dancing at 3AM". None of these complaints were discussed with us. There was only a piece of paper wedged in our door a few months following the complaints (complaints documented in October, letter regarding not being allowed to resign lease in January). You may think this is a normal process, but a few friends who lived in a different building received a noise complaint but instead of getting a letter in their door, they were called and asked to explain their side of the complaint. Preferential treatment. On top of that, we lost $210 of our deposit because "carpets have to be professionally cleaned before moving out" and an additional $240 for routine cleaning of the apartment for the next tenet. This was no where in my lease. I called and spoke with management who even told me to my face that it was not outlined in my lease, but that I was still responsible for the fee. My roommate called while we were in the process of moving out and asked for move out instructions. The professional carpet cleaning was never mentioned, but we were informed to fill any holes larger than the size of a dime. My mother vacuumed the carpets, scrubbed the bathrooms and kitchen, leaving it honestly cleaner than it was when I moved it and we still lost $240. Should have just left it disgusting honestly. Don't even get me started on the lack of guest parking in the facility and the fact that cars are towed almost immediately. Don't live here. Your visitors won't be able to park and you won't get any money back. Highlands staff will nickel and dime you and make your time in these beautiful apartments a regretful one. Choose wisely because I didn't.
I would not recommend The Highlands at Huckleberry Ridge to anyone. I will be very objective in my list. Now when you read this list, some might say why didnt you read the lease that you signed. My response would be- it was our fault to not find out more information for some of the things. But most was not our fault and you will see from the list.
If you want to read the details, they are below. If not (which I understand,) I will provide a short list. 1. Maintenance awesome! 2. Brand new appliances did not work. 3. Air conditioning broke down twice in less than one year. 4. Doors (including front door) does not close properly. 5. Grass is left to grow over 3 feet. 6. Water takes a long time to get hot. 7. You pay for other apartments water use. 8. Parking is a disaster (recommend you definitely read this one.) 9. Apartment walls are thin. 10. Manager on sight does not address concerns. 11. Management (meaning higher up management) does not get back to you.
