I've lived at the Arbors at Broadlands for just shy of five years now, and I've lost all patience with this place and the new management by Jefferson.
I was planning on moving out of the area this summer, and gave them advance warning several months ago.
At the time, I asked for an estimate of what a month-to-month cost would be if I had to go past my original lease end date (my new home is a new construction, and construction delays are unavoidable).
From their answer, I budgeted accordingly (the value being about 38% more than my current rent... high, but understandable for going month to month).
My lease renewal officially arrived, and the month-to-month came in as a
147% increase in my current rent.
I guess I shouldn't have warned them that I was building a new home, since they knew they would now have me cornered.
For five years, I paid my rent on time, and did a lot of my own repairs to help whenever possible.
The condition of the apartment building I'm in is substandard, with uneven floors, lights constantly out in the common stairwells, roof shingles on the ground and on parked cars after storms.
Insects are always finding their way inside, despite keeping all doors and windows tightly sealed.
Just two weeks ago, the light fixture in the kitchen came crashing down suddenly, barely missing my pet, and exposing a large hole in the ceiling above the light fixture (I guess that's where all the insects were coming in through).
The condition of the building is what finally informed my decision to leave, and Jefferson Arbors at Broadlands will do everything they can to extract every last drop of blood they can, it seems.
I withheld posting an honest review of the Arbors at Broadlands for a long time, hoping that I could simply move away with little trouble, but this attempt at what appears to be extortion by management was the last straw.
I urge you to look ANYWHERE else to live if you're moving to this area.
Worst maintenance. They rented the apartment without checking whether the heating and cooling is in working condition. We are suffering due to cold temperatures inside the apartment.
Spacious, quiet. Dog friendly. Convenient.
I looked around at several apartment communities before selecting Jefferson Arbors at Broadlands. It was the best value for the size. The staff is super friendly and helpful, the apt was clean and in good condition and my neighbors are very quiet.
So far it has been everything I've expected. I have not had to call maintenance which is nice because that means everything is working the way it should be. The community is quiet and a family friendly place.
