I live here and the appliances are old and when they break they give you another old one which works not very will. Winter is coming they will not plow but around the office. When it is time to renew your lease rent will go up $80 to $100.a month more. The amenity fees you have to pay each year where other communities only charge you one time. The parking is terrible if you get home after 6 pm by 9 or 10 you have to park far from your building and they will not assign spaces.
Trash compacter breaks every weeks so people toss the trash all around it looks terrible. The air conditioners are loud so if you live in the back you can hear them all night. Don't move here I moved to be closer to work but will be moving out.
I have lived in Elms at Kingstown for almost 3 years. I would have stayed if I hadn't decided to purchase my own property closer to my job. The staff is friendly, the maintenance crew is extremely responsive and friendly. The community is also pretty quiet but close to shopping, Springfield mall, Metro. You really can't beat the price either, especially in Northern Virginia. The owners of the company always give out surveys.
The apartments themselves are comfortable and suited my needs. They actually feel like homes and not just rooms you have to do something with. I also love the green space the place has.
There are a few reviews on here that have complained about trash, pest problems, and no amenities. I just want to counter those complaints -- the only time I saw trash build up was when the compactor broke and people didn't put the trash in the dumpster a few steps away. A few e-mails were sent to the community telling them to pick up after themselves and it stopped. The community is strict about garbage -- like you can't leave any outside your door or risk getting fined.
As for pests, I'll admit I'm not the most clean of individuals but I never had any issues with pests. There was /one/ time I thought I saw a roach in my entire 3 years of living here. I called the front desk. They were super understanding and sent a pest inspector the next day who told me there were no issues but sprayed anyway.
The amenities, I really don't understand this complaint. There are tennis courts, a pool surrounded by trees, a racket ball court, and a serviceable gym that I have used.
Anyways to sum up, this has been a great community and I am going to miss it when I leave in September.
Friendly staff, close to metro and shopping, lots of trees / landscaping on property, quiet neighbors, close driving distance to beltway, great apartment, washer / dryer in apt.
Although I rate it "Good", yearly rent increases since I have lived here have made it likely that I move when my lease runs out.
Location, location, location! The Elms at Kingstowne is near some of the best schools in Fairfax County, VA.
