I moved to Riverside in February and I'm enjoying living here very much. My neighbors are friendly and I love the fitness center. No complex in Alexandria has 3 swimming pools, plus a lap pool. The shuttle bus service to & from the metro is the best amenity of all.
Riverside is a great community. The service provided by the staff and the maintenance team are first class. The location of this community and its accessibility to major venues are unique.
I signed a lease yesterday (Saturday) as the movers were moving everything in to my apartment, I was looking around and started noticing a bug (roaches) here, a bug there, then another one....then another one. I went to the leasing office and they told me maintenance couldn't spray until Tuesday! I had to raid bomb the apartment TWICE and still saw them. I couldn't even stay in the apartment the first night, and chances are I won't be able to stay in there tonight and I definitely can't unpack my stuff. This is so disappointing especially when you give them a check for 2300 worth of move in-cost and the first thing you're having to deal with is roaches with no resolution in sight until TUESDAY! I'm thinking this apartment had issues with roaches for some time because at the very top of the kitchen cabinet there was one of those little roach killer things. Nobody just puts those in their home for no reason or for decoration.
Riverside has the most reasonably priced apartments we could find near D.C. It is a great place to live if you're looking to save a little money and be close to everything. Also a $5 uber away from downtown Alexandria which is really fun and lots of shopping. Tower 1 is the only place I would live though, tower 2 is very dirty and lobby is just awful. The leasing staff here is fantastic, helpful, nice people. I had read reviews about bugs and mice before we moved in that concerned me but the leasing team assured me this is only coming from people who aren't very clean (they said it much nicer than this). It's true, I haven't seen a bug once and going on six months. I would recommend not living near the trash chute, and tower 1 only. I never hear my neighbors which is nice. I've lived in expensive luxury apartments and well... This is an OK place!!!
The Apartment is nice but it was too expensive
