I began living at Park Vue October 2016 and will be moving out September 2017. Here's what you need to know
Pros: decent sized apartment that's not too expensive for the area. Easy access to Crystal City, Ronald Reagan airport, and the Del Ray neighborhood.
- Mice: I found one mouse in the month of January and requested maintenance to fix the issue. Not quite sure why it was such a struggle, but maintenance had to come into my apartment almost every month until June 2017 before I stopped seeing mice. I still have traps up, because I'm not fully confident I won't see a mouse again.
- Heat/AC: There's no central air so tenants have no access to heat or AC during certain times of the year. There was even an issue this past spring during an unusually hot week where tenants were notified of the AC being available, for it to only break the next day and not be fixed until the next week.
- Utility bills: After notifying property management that I would be vacating the apartment at the end of my lease, I received a "final" utility bill. Property management took it upon themselves to request an energy usage estimate from Studebaker Submetering (the power company they use) for the final two months of my lease. Those two months' "estimated energy usage" were tacked onto the previous bill and totaled over $400, that i was expected to pay the next week. I was unaware that property managers could charge tenants for energy consumption that they haven't used yet, and have a due date for that bill prior to that consumption.
Bottom Line: Things could have been worse at Park Vue, but I still recommend no one move there. The pros do not outweigh the cons. It's not as clean as it should be, the neighborhood it's surrounded by has issues with crime, no central air will have you either super hot or super cold for a few weeks during seasonal transitions, and you'll be charged for utilities when you haven't even used them.
More laundry machines
Not sure of the feasibility, but getting the windows washed would really improve the apartment appearance. We have great views, but it's impossible to clean the windows from inside the apt.
Replace/ revamp the elevators. Otherwise, everything seems great and everyone is super friendly. I also appreciate having my mail right in the lobby and that someone is there to accept packages.
In the Winter, De-icing compounds should be applied all over the wooden stairs along with the other pedestrian travel areas. In addition, on the mornings that ice and icy conditions are liniment, the solution should be applied by 6 o clock so it will take affect for the morning crowds
