The University of Texas-Pan American, part of the the massive UT system, is located in the city of Edinburg, Texas, at the state's southern tip. Edinburg, a city of about 77,000 residents, has been the site of student living for UTPA since the school was founded there in 1927. Since it's inaugural year, enrollment at the Pan American campus has grown from about 200 students to more than 19,000, some of whom reside in off campus housing in the area. Student housing is also available near The Starr County Upper-Level Center, which offers selected courses in Rio Grande City. With its continued expansion, the University of Texas-Pan America campus has recently developed its campus, adding student housing and a new wellness center over the past five years.

UTPA has become a popular choice for higher education not only for its academics, but for its value.
