All about

Texas Wesleyan University, TX

Texas Wesleyan University tracks its long history in Fort Worth to 1890, when it was founded by the Methodist Episcopal Church as Polytechnic College. Today, the private liberal arts university centers its student living experience in the Polytechnic Heights neighborhood of Fort Worth, but also operates branch campuses in Burleson and downtown Fort Worth. With student housing spread throughout the Texas city, students at Texas Wesleyan University have their choice of several neighborhoods when they enroll at the institution. The Polytechnic Heights area - locally known as Poly - is an old community of about 12,000 residents on the city's southeast side, while the down town campus provides a higher concentration of restaurants, bars and entertainment options to those with a university apartment.

Today, about 1,700 undergraduates and 1,500 postgraduates make their residence in a Texas Wesleyan University apartment or dormitory while they study. Academic concentrations at TWU are divided into five schools: Business, Education, Arts and Letters, Natural & Social Sciences and Law. Together, these schools offer 42 undergraduate majors, 13 graduate programs and three doctoral programs. Notably, Texas Wesleyan is one of the few four-year institutions in the U.S. to offer table tennis scholarships, and the school owns a sparkling record in national collegiate tournaments.

Many students elect to reside in off campus housing near the school's main, in part because of the attractive surrounding neighborhood. Rosedale Street offers an abundance of restaurants and shops, including the historic Burge Hardware Store, and TWU's campus is nestled just blocks from Sycamore Park and its winding creek.
