Since 1873, Texas Christian University has been one of the Lone Star State’s top institutions of higher education. Located in Fort Worth, the university extends student living opportunities in an area that has developed around the school, and is now full of popular bars, coffee shops and eateries. TCU, which is affiliated with the Disciples of Christ, offers student housing on its large campus, shaded from the prairie heat by lines of oak trees, as well as in university apartments that surround the area. Today, about 9,500 students, mostly comprised of undergraduates, enroll at Texas Christian University, and benefit from the wide array of student housing options in the Fort Worth area.
In 2011, Forbes Magazine ranked TCU 84th overall among national universities. The school’s curriculum covers 118 undergraduate majors, though 25 percent of bachelors degree candidates major in the popular Business program. In addition, graduate students may be enrolled in any of 56 master’s programs or 21 doctoral programs.
Approximately one-third of all TCU students live in Texas Christian University off campus housing. A university apartment in this area places students near a small commercial strip along University and Berry Streets, that helps to maintain an exciting and productive student lifestyle. Fuzzy’s Tacos, Perotti’s Pizza and Dutch’s Hamburgers are favorite lunch spots among students, while bars such as The Pub and The Aardvark are within walking distance. Off campus housing near TCU may extend a student’s comfort zone into this community.
