Originally established in 1947 as the University of Corpus Christi on Ward Island in Corpus Christi, Texas, Texas A&M University - Corpus Christi is now one of the nine universities that comprise the Texas A&M University system. The school has undergone a number of name changes including Texas A&I University at Corpus Christi, Corpus Christi State University before settling on its current moniker in 1993.
