Parker University, originally known as Parker College of Chiropractic, is a health-focused university in Dallas, Texas. The school was founded in 1982 by Dr. James W. Parker, who had managed 18 chiropractic practices in the Lone Star State prior to beginning chiropractic seminars. Parker opened with a class of just 25 students, though enrollment has multiplied to nearly 1,000 pupils, who occupy student housing throughout the area. Student living in Dallas provides a wealth of entertainment and cultural attractions, while the university provides a lengthy list of academic resources that draw many students to nearby student housing. In 2011, the school was certified as a university, becoming the second chiropractic college to make this transition in the past 12 years.
