Huston-Tillotson University, a historically black university in Austin, Texas, has a long history serving its students with a practical education. The school traces its roots to the Tillotson Collegiate and Normal Institute (founded in 1881), and Samuel Hurston College (founded in 1883), where legendary baseball player Jackie Robinson served as the athletic director.
