I really regret living at The Standard.

Hallways are dirty. Exit signs hang by a wire. There was a dead mouse in the bottom of the pool one day. Buildings are falling apart. My deadbolt broke, which locked me inside my apartment (really). Roaches only came around a few times a year, but ants were a constant battle. I had two water leaks in my building, which caused substantial damage to my apartment. The walls are paper thin (so you get to know your neighbors well!) and theyre cracking pretty severely.

PSA TO CURRENT RESIDENTS: Demand a walk-through when you move out! Management told me not to worry about being present for a walk-through, then I got slapped with an $89 charge for a broken microwave handle. There was nothing wrong with my microwave! (If there was, I would have reported it like every other issue I listed above.) After perusing Yelp reviews, I discovered Im not the only former resident to be charged for a phantom broken microwave handle.

Sounds like a pattern of behavior, so watch out!

The Standard is wayyy too expensive for such low quality apartments and deceptive management.

We recently moved into the Standard Apartments (April 21st, 2018). We were happy about our decision and the staff seemed to be caring and always efficient. Followed through with details in a timely matter and the apartments themselves are beautiful inside. That changed.
While doing our walk through the day of move in we noticed the apartment had not been cleaned (urine on the floor by the toilets, counter tops dirty, etc), master bedroom carpet had a huge stain. I mentioned this to Jenny which she was extremely apologetic and let me know they will come to clean the apartment. At that point were moving in and who wants to deal with cleaning people when were sky high in boxes?! From there its gotten worse. The night we moved in I noticed a smell coming from under the kitchen sink. The pipe was broken. They came out to fix it. The neighbors above us walk so hard that TWO lights have now had to be replaced. One fell off above my head and was hanging there. The other in the kitchen fell as well. They did have the carpets replaced BUT what an inconvenience when it shouldve been done prior to move in. Cleaning as well.
The AC broke because it hasnt been maintained. The kitchen pipe broke again because the maintenance didnt fix it properly to begin with.
No PARKING!! They give you a sticker for parking BUT I now know that anyone can park anywhere sticker or not. So if you feel like carrying all your groceries from 2 buildings away or walking in a torrential downpour (which happens frequently in Texas) this is the place for you.
Cigarette butts are in the staircase. Light fixtures hanging down in the halls. Just not as pretty as they show. Granted they take you to the model apartments and trust me those hallways and staircases look pretty. Do yourself a favor and look at the building youre planning on leasing prior to signing the lease.
