All about

Dallas County Community College, TX

The Dallas County Community College District is a network of seven community colleges that have brought student living to literally every quadrant of Dallas, Texas and its surrounding county. Beginning in 1966, DCCCD has opened its doors to students seeking higher education degrees, and has expanded into a system that includes more than 7,000 full- and part-time faculty, staff and administrators. Students of all different levels, including those who work part time, find student housing in Dallas County to create a convenient lifestyle while they pursue a degree or certificate. The institution is headquartered at 1601 South Lamar in central Dallas, though a college apartment can be found near each of DCCCD’s schools.

As of the fall of 2011, more than 85,000 for-credit students joined about 25,000 continuing education students by enrolling in a DCCCD institution. The flagship school, El Centro College, was established in Dallas in 1966. Since then, student living has expanded to Eastfield College, Mountain View College, Richland Collage, Cedar Valley College, North Lake College, and Brookhaven College, which was the most recently established, opening in 1978. In addition, DCCCD runs the Bill J. Priest Institute campus of El Centro College, which offers educational programs that aim to support small businesses.

Because of the institution’s pervasive presence in Dallas County, off campus housing is easy to find. Many students prefer to rent a college apartment during their period of study to support a convenient lifestyle in one of Texas’ most exciting cities.
