Living in Dallas Baptist University, TX

When Dallas Baptist University first opened its doors in 1898, it was called Decatur Baptist College, and serving about 500 students, became the first two-year institution of higher education in Texas. Over the next century, the school adopted Christian and liberal arts approaches to education and expanded to an enrollment of more than 5,500 students in 2011. Student housing is available for each of these pupils near the university's main campus in Dallas, as well as locations in Plano, Hurst and Mansfield. Student living in these areas benefit from lively student communities as well as an urban area with much to offer for people with all kinds of tastes.

Dallas Baptist University attracts young scholars with a variety of academic interests to study at one of its campuses. The school now offers 68 undergraduate majors, 22 master's degree programs, more than 40 dual master's programs and two doctoral programs. In addition, the DBU has continually supported efforts to enhance student living with aggressive construction and development. New buildings on campus include Sheila Cook Hall, the Ebby Halliday Center, the International Center and many new student housing buildings.

Nearly 75 percent of all students at Dallas Baptist University live in off campus housing or commute to classes. A university apartment in the area positions students about 15 miles southwest of downtown Dallas, in a serene area overlooking Mountain Creek Lake.

What Renters Like and Dislike About Dallas Baptist University

There's lots of trees there's a strip mall within a walking distance plus we have the very reliable transportation that is close by The neighbors I like most of my neighbors but not all we have a pool here it's convenient to get to it has a gate around it but at times it's easy to get in for anyone we have around the clock security with plenty of trees and lots of things to do

Quiet neighborhood. Close to grocery store, restaurants, library and Target. The houses are all within a specific range of size and value.

There is only one way in and one way out of my neighborhood. Some restaurants are very good and nearby

I like that I can walk to multiple restaurants. There is public transportation1 block away.. I like that it is quiet and friendly neighbors.

I like that I am only about a block away from one of the few Krispy Kreme stores in our area. I also like that we are within walking distance to 2 of our favorite grocery stores.

We are near downtown (15-20 minutes) Golf course across the street.main street. New school/Y under construction with 1.5 miles.
