As a 22 year old grad student at Texas A&M, I've really enjoyed the experience here. (To fully disclose any possible biases, I will state that I am also a white male from an upper middle class background). My stipend for being a TA covers my rent and bills easily and leaves me with $200-$300 leftover a month after paying for food as well, though I will say my car insurance and renters insurance are with my parents.

Is it pretty? Not really, but it is both cheap and management has been extremely responsive during my stay: I typically have my requests answered on the same day I put them in when it comes to maintenance.

When I complained my air conditioner went out during the summer, they installed a temporary air conditioner within 2 hours and replaced the air conditioner entirely - and I mean literally tore the unit from the ceiling and removed the one outside before replacing them - within a few days. The problem was quickly solved.

Outside of that, they don't pry too much into your lives unless there is problem, for which I am thankful.

As for the neighbors I have met a variety of people, from senior citizens to people just starting out in life to families with their children running around. None of them have provided any major issues.

So if you are looking for a reasonably priced place to stay and looks aren't your first priority, I would suggest these apartments.

First of all, if you're not picky, this is the place for you. You'll find that the walls are painted over paint from who knows how long ago. And whoever painted it has his/her hair stuck on the walls in every room. Second, careless management. If you try to complain about anything, expect nothing to happen. I should've known better than to rely on the landlord. From the beginning she was unreliable. I use to talk highly of this place before I moved in. This is a part of the Hoban management. Hoban claims they don't offer section 8 ,when in fact, half of the tenants here are section 8. If you don't mind paying for their living then be my guest, enjoy your expensive living knowing that some of your hard working money is going to the ones who are paying way less than you are.
