ROACHES GALORE!!! I think they just move from apartment to apartment. You might want to schedule a late-night tour (thats when they come out) before signing on the dotted line. I relocated 2000+miles from home and was in over $5000 when I moved in. Not enough left over for a second move. I couldnt take it anymore and left. My credit has now been dinged for remainder of lease when the apartment wasnt fit to be lived in by humans.
If youre thinking of moving in here think once, then think twice, then think again...
Ive got pics of the critters.... too many pics!
I came to Lantern Apartments because it was one of very few complexes that would rent to me being that I was still out of state. I had to take a risk as I was not physically present to do a walk through in the complex. The schools are good in this area and that was the main factor in my choice for Lantern Apartments as my son is still in elementary school. The updates and renovations that they claim to have made are all cheap aesthetics. I have a kitchen drawer that you cant open all the way because it falls off the track and onto the shelf below it. There is absolutely no closet space or shelving space in general. The shelves in the bathroom and kitchen are filled with mold that was painted over. The metal toilet paper and towel racks are cheap and consistently fall out of the wall. Maintenance requests go ignored for days. Ive made 4 requests the same issue and they simply bandaid the problem. There was a banking error one month for my paycheck and despite speaking to management about it prior to rent being due I was still charged a $25 a day late fee, even though my track record shows I pay rent on time every month. One of the office employees lives in building 11, she monitors the tenants and likes to hand out fees, be aware. The city of Austin and Lantern Apartments had a back issue with water charges, Lantern Apartments has decided to split the charge between the tenants, even though this is not our issue. My neighbor has been with this complex for years and is being charged $390 in back water bills because of this awful complex. The parking situation is a mess, the parking lots are terribly rundown. Most of the speed bumps are coming up out of the ground, which is really a hazard. The lights are constantly off at night in our building which is incredibly dangerous. The investors and employees of Lantern do not care about the tenants or this living experience. Please look elsewhere.
Don't do it if your consodering this place and this is where we've called home for 5 years now until now that they've put some horrible people in our communities leasing office.... We are due to move in to this unit tomorrow and it has looked like this since 2 weeks ago when they cleaned out everything from old tenants living there... we were told everything was going to be brand new, but we'll see tomorrow God's when we get the keys... Talked to management Paul and wow does he want to have attitude with the residents.... I work in management and even though the customer may not always be right management is to still be respectful and professional towards the customer.... I called to see why it's not ready so close to time to move in and his smart aleck response was "did they tell you it would be ready? Then it will be ready" and this is what it still looks like a day before move in.... we're simply just transferring to this unit after living on the 3rd floor here for 5 years.... No one has an answer to questions but their response is always "it's mandatory" and transfer you to Paul... always got something sarcastic to say when you ask any of them anything.... we've been through 5 different management companies and it continues to get worse these people are the worst.... now it's mandatory to have cable included in your lease even if you pay cheaper or simply don't want it.... now fish are considered animals you can't have without permission.... apartments are very old with new upgrades and they charge you more than renting a 3 bedroom house they've repainted these buildings so many times and it just looks a mess.... the only reason I'm complaining is because how dare you allow my new apartment to just sit like this up to the day we're going to move in to it.... called the company that owns the apartments and they just refer you back to the complex.. . SO I SAY REALLY MAKE SURE YOU READ THIS BEFORE SIGNING LEASE OR PUTTING DOWN A DEPOSIT....
I don't know what all these people are talking about. I have lived here for almost a year and I can see the change over the last few months. It used to take forever to get anything done. Now, any issues I bring up are done quickly. Maybe not the same day but within a couple. It's a big place. The staff is really nice too. Paul helped me with some information when I was having a hard time. Also, we just had a community pig roast. There was delicious food, music, pool, and fun. I will be signing another contract. This place is getting better and better.
Maintenance requests go ignored and property has been through 3 different managers just this year alone. I read reviews before I moved in and thought well maybe I'll have a better experience. This property was a last resort and the worst mistake. DO NOT move here. They have no respect, and believe all of the negative reviews, they are beyond accurate. Save yourself the headaches and go else where. Too many better complexes in the area. I can't wait to move out!!
