Austin Community College - Pinnacle (ACCP) is one of eight regional campuses of the Austin Community College District (ACC), the second largest institution of higher education in Central Texas. The institution was created by the residents of the Austin independent school district in 1972, opening its doors for the first time at the now-closed Ridgeview campus the next year. Today, ACC has seven other campus locations in addition to Pinnacle, including Rio Grande, Riverside, Northridge, Cypress Creek, Eastview, South Austin and Round Rock - with plans to open locations in Elgin and Hays in 2013.
The school's stated mission "promotes student success and improves communities by providing affordable access to higher education and workforce training" with emphasis on "general education and academic transfer, workforce education, foundation programs to get students college-ready" and "lifelong learning (continuing education)."
