Originally founded in 1926 as Lutheran Concordia College of Texas, a four-year religious high school, the school underwent a number of changes over the years before settling its current name as Concordia University Texas (CUT) in 2007. Prior to this arrangement, the school operated as a junior college and standard four-year undergraduate school with names like Concordia Lutheran College and Concordia University at Austin. Today, the school is governed by the Lutheran Church - Missouri Synod and a member of the Concordia University system - a ten-member institution of higher education spread throughout the U.S.
Those living in student housing or an off campus apartment at CUT have access to the school's exceptional academic programs. Students may pursue degrees in a variety of undergraduate and graduate fields through the university's four departments including the College of Liberal Arts, the College of Science, the College of Business and the College of Education. Some of the most popular degree programs at the school are kinesiology, nursing, behavioral sciences, business and education.
Student living and university living at CUT revolve around numerous traditional student clubs and organizations. The school's athletic programs compete in the NCAA's Division III in men's and women's sports like golf, soccer, track and field, baseball, basketball, cross country, volleyball and softball. Students also have access to downtown Austin's various entertainments as the "Live Music Capital of the World."
