Austin Community College - Cypress Creek is one of eight regional campuses comprising the Austin Community College District (ACC), the second largest institution of higher education in Central Texas. This junior college grants university transfer degrees, core curriculum courses, workforce and technical degrees and certificates. ACC first opened in 1973 with the supper of the Austin independent school district at the now-abandoned Ridgeview campus. Over the years, ACC has grown to accommodate campus facilities in communities surrounding Austin like Pinnacle, Northridge, Rio Grande, Riverside, Eastview, South Austin and Round Rock - with plans to open new locations in Elgin and Hays by 2013.
The school's stated mission "promotes student success and improves communities by providing affordable access to higher education and workforce training" with emphasis on "general education and academic transfer, workforce education, foundation programs to get students college-ready" and "lifelong learning (continuing education)."
