Union University is a private Christian institution located in western Tennessee. Founded in 1823, just after West Tennessee opened for settlement, the school is heir to some of the oldest universities in the country, including West Tennessee College and Southwestern Baptist University. Student living is centered at the university's main campus in the city of Jackson, though Union University also has campuses in Germantown and Hendersonville, both in Tennessee. Jackson is a city of more than 65,000 residents and home several downtown attractions. The approximately 4,200 students at Union may reside in student housing on campus or in a university apartment surrounding the institution, in its quiet neighborhood, north of downtown Jackson.
