Let me start off by saying the Terrace is a very nice place and location. It is well kept and enjoys a nice, diverse group of residents.
It was, however, very disappointing to my 87 year old mother-in-law when after a month from moving in, the mission and the services of the facility changed something that she had not been made aware of when exploring the Terrace. This was a big move for her and it was very disheartening when many of the reasons she chose the Terrace over other facilities were limited or ended. Transportation to medical appointments ended and grocery store trips were reduced. The senior living mission was removed and management changed.
But, a larger influence for the 1 star rating has to do with the conduct of the new management. The facility Manager and an employee approached her in the lobby and didnt just berate her, but actually threatened her, out in front of other residents. This should have been a private conversation to clear up a misunderstanding of information and should have taken place in private rather than accusing and threatening her in front of her friends and acquaintances. Also, family members could have intervened to help the situation from blowing up. Neither was done. The threatening and bullying resulted in deep disappointment and fear which along with a drastic rent increase (over $200/month) resulted in her moving out. No one wants to live under fear of intimidation by rude and bullying behavior.
Professionalism was lacking in the Managers handling of this patron. Everyone has a bad day, but I fear this is more than a single episode for her.
I've been staying here for almost 7 months now and I'm loving it! It has a walking distance from the University of Memphis making it a great option for students like me. I love the view and quietness.
It's gated and has camera which makes it secure. The staff are always nice and cooperative as well.
I've been living here for 6 months and I must say I love it here! New management has came in and completed renovated the place! Everything so convenient from the activity center, the onsite diner for eating, the prompt maintenance, and the friendly staff as well. You wont be disappointed!!
I am enjoying living here so far. I love how nice the lobby looks. It makes the building feel really nice and upscale. The workout room is a nice added bonus as well.
My Dad has stayed here for about 2 1/2 yrs now. Although management has changed within the last 11 months, My Dad Loves it here. The company is making changes but I feel theyre for the best. Everything is newly renovated. The lobby area looks Amazing (no more out dated furniture). They have a coffee room, currently doing renovations on the exercise room, a cafe that serves breakfast and lunch (the cook is wonderful), last but not least theyre redoing the activity room and turning it into a media & game room. The staff is Wonderful, theyre working very hard (in my opinion) to turn things around. With me handling my Dads finances I really love it that the Rent, Utilities, Cable, and Wifi are all inclusive.
