Lee University, TN

Lee University, a private, liberal arts institution located in the southeastern corner of Tennessee, is affiliated with the Church of God and has a long tradition of religious education. Founded in 1918, the institution operated as a Bible Training School until 1947, when it was accredited as a college in 1947 and as a university in 1997. Today, student living extends to more than 4,300 individuals, who comprise the fifth-largest undergraduate enrollment among the 103 members of the Council for Christian Colleges and Universities. To reach this distinction, enrollment has increased for 25 consecutive years, and quadrupled since 1986. Student housing is available for all of these scholars on campus or in the university apartments that surround the Lee University campus in Cleveland, Tennessee. The city of more than 41,000 residents lies between Chattanooga and Knoxville and sits on the Ocoee River, and east of Chickamagu Lake.

Lee University is known for its religious education, though its pre-medicine, business, elementary education and music programs are also considered among the strongest of its 49 majors. Student living is made unique by academic requirements, including frequent chapel attendance, 10 hours of service, and participation in a study abroad program, typically over summer break. Bachelor's degrees are conferred through the College of Arts & Sciences, the Helen DeVos College of Education, the School of Music, the School of Religion and the Center for Adult & Professional Studies. In 2011, Lee was ranked the 54th best university in the South by the U.S. News and World Report.

Located in downtown Cleveland, Lee University student housing is near community resources such as the North Cleveland Church of God and the Northeast Recreation Center. During leisure hours, students with a college apartment can make the short trip to Johnston Park, or one of the area's many cafes, including Central Park.
