I love living at Steeplechase! The location is great - right off the interstate, and it's easy to get just about anywhere in Knoxville. The staff has always been friendly and helpful with any requests I've had, big or small. The trees are pretty and I feel like my apartment is in a community without feeling crowded or cramped. I think the floorplans are unique and spacious, and the prices are very affordable.
Very quiet, which is wonderful because I'm a graduate student so it's great for studying and sleeping.
No door separation between bedroom and bathroom in any of the 1 bed/1 bath units, and no ability to install a door because the drywall has been purposely cut in a staircase-style for reasons unadvertised and illogical. The largest one bedroom unit ($849/month not including utilities, monthly pest control, etc) is not worth more than $500 at very best. Staff is desperate to rent and relies on ability to rent larger apartments at cheaper prices (but only if you ask about options) to substitute for actual customer service; took days to respond to texts and practically unreachable on the phone. Do not let the outside community fool you and be pressured to rent a unit sight unseen; the poor quality and age of the units is extremely well hidden in the initial advertising. I really wanted to love this place. I talked with current residents while driving around the community that the worst of the reviews (slow or unresponsive staff and maintenance, mold due to constant flooding in lower apartments, bad appliances) are accurate. Ended my experience extremely disappointed, and out a $175 application fee. Still, a blessing when compared with having to have lived at Steeplechase for a year.
My boyfriend and I toured Steeplechase in April of this year, upon our arrival we immediately knew it had to be our home. The apartment we toured is currently the apartment we live in now; a renovated 1 bedroom 1 bath apartment. After moving in everything went well for a total of about one week before we began to notice many things going wrong. To start my boyfriend and I are both extremely cleanly & sanitary people which helps tremendously with the discomfort I have toward crawling insects, which we began to notice a plethora of. In one day we counted we had killed a total of 7 fairly large spiders and 3 miscellaneous large bugs. We proceeded to call the office to put in a maintenance report to have it taken care of and since have called back 6 times have them consistently come and spray(In a four month period). In addition to that it seems to us as they renovated the apartment to make it appear to be put together when in reality it is falling apart. Our toilet overflows on the daily, we have flushed it with only water in it and it has overflowed, there is a leak in our living room ceiling from the people above us, our A/C unit has stopped working twice (one of these times we went a whole weekend without it due to the on call maintanence not being able to come out to fix it), weve had glued parts fall off of our bathtub and cause leakage, and we are also currently still waiting for them to change out the smoke detectors that they have assured us would be done weeks ago. On top of all these issues that effect our daily life the staff is incredibly rude and unhelpful. We have been at the pool and been told to leave at 9:30 due to the maintence guy who locks the pool doors telling us he is locking it now because he has other things to do before going homewhen it is posted that it clearly closes at 10. We have also been yelled at by the office staff when we had a question regarding a $44 balance on our account to which we never received a bill for but instead rece
I absolutely love living here! Friendly neighbors, helpful office staff, maintenance is always done super fast! I can't say enough good things about my time here
