Salve Regina University (SRU) is a private Catholic school located in Newport, Rhode Island. It was originally founded by the Sisters of Mercy back in 1934, slowly expanding in size and scope. For a long time, Salve Regina was very small - in 1958 its graduating class was only 58. The undergraduate academic programs at this school are based on the liberal arts, offering a number of concentrations in the arts, sciences and pre-professional programs.
