The 12-story Union Trust Co. building was built in 1901 and 1902, and is on the National Register of Historic Places. At the time of its completion, it was among the tallest buildings in New England. The structure features an ornate exterior of brick and rusticated granite, of a French Renaissance-revival style, according to the Register's description of the building.
