Established in 1764, Brown University is one of the oldest institutions of higher learning in the country and has a vast history starting from its founding as the College in the English Colony of Rhode Island and Providence Plantations in the town of Warren. It was the Brown family that was instrumental in relocating the school to its current location in Providence and it was Nicholas Brown, Jr., who was a student that the institution was eventually named after. Today, Brown University enrolls more than 8,000 students who either live on campus or in the many beautiful apartments that surround the area. Being a member of the Ivy League, the school is one of the most selective in the country.
