Are you serious on the price of 1 bedroom. Get real
Its completely asinine that I cant pickup a package at 5:38 because its not 6pm and apparently the leasing office is now above touching our packages. The young gentleman who sit near the door is wildly unhelpful and apathetic about his job. The male security guard with dreads does not want to be here at night and actively curses at work and complains about his job in front of the tennants. For the longest time the back door was just always open when wholeheartedly defeats the purpose of even have a fob and a guard at the front desk. As someone who is financially able to afford whatever apartment I want in the city, I cannot wait to move out and stop giving this building and management company my money. The fire alarms go off a lot, the neighbors are loud and management barely does anything to enforce the no smoking policy.
Doesn't respond to emails or phone calls
It's a total and complete disaster here. Seriously, don't even tour it. Don't even think about it. If you think the price looks good, it doesn't, you're just being cheap.
I have lived here for several years. The current staff is lovely, but there's such a high turnover, who knows how long they'll stay. In the time I've lived here there have been three, maybe four property managers and two management companies. I'm in need of a bigger space for my growing family so I asked if I could leave earlier. They kindly found someone who was looking for an apartment, and sent me a move out notice for the 24th of the month, three months before my original lease end.
When I moved in, it was on the 15th. I was required to pay the full month of rent despite living there for half the month. I paid for their transition time to clean the apartment from the previous tenant. This is not a common practice anywhere else. Instead of leaving on the 31st of a month, I'm now leaving on the 24th and have to pay the full month of rent. This required me to find a new place in less than a month, and it had to have a mid-month move in or else I'd be paying two rents at the same time. Unfortunately, mid-month move-ins aren't a thing besides here. I asked to move out on the 15th, and pay half.
After spending many hours over the past few weeks communicating and not getting information back, I'm now days away from my move, and receive a threat to vacate or pay my remaining rent. I finally get in touch with someone from the parent company, who tells me she'll back out of the notice and keep my original lease so I will pay three more months. I finally agree to pay the remainder of the month, because I cannot afford more months of double rent. She then says it's not a new lease, it's a lease transfer, and there's a $300 fee.
I'm so sorry to be writing this review, because the staff have really been amazing. But these issues regarding my financial situation and the manner in which it was handled is unacceptable. I would not want anyone to be taken advantage of like I have, so I strongly don't recommend Carriage House.
