Though Pennsylvania State University operates a large and well-known main campus in University Park, it also offers student living in smaller settings through more than two dozen affiliated colleges throughout the state. One of these locations, Pennsylvania College of Technology, brings young learners to student housing in Williamsport, a city of about 30,000 residents in the state’s central region. Student living in Williamsport is supported by recreation space along the west branch of the Susquehanna River, a multitude of theaters, restaurants and pubs, and events such as the annual Little League World Series that the city sponsors.
Pennsylvania College of Technology was founded in 1941, and operated 24 hours per day during World War II to provide production training that would meet the needs of the defense industry. Today, nearly 6,000 students live in student housing near Penn College as they pursue certificates, associate and baccalaureate degrees in more than 100 fields of study. These disciplines include manufacturing, design, transportation, construction, natural resources, hospitality, business and health.
Off campus housing is available near the school’s Williamsport campus, as well as four satellite campuses located around the west branch of the Susquehanna River and the northern tier of Pennsylvania. A Penn College apartment near campus puts students near the restaurants on 2nd and 3rd streets, and near the recreation space along the river.
