I moved with my entire family from Fargo ND to this apartment in June 2016 and never regret it. The communication between me and leasing lady was perfect. She assisted me in the process, since I'm coming from all the from Fargo ND. It was smooth and when we get here our keys to our apartment are ready. This place is nice and quite. Maintenance guys are very respectful and always on time. I will recommend this place to anybody.

I was deceived by Newport Commons theres no nice way to put it. After being promised that I would have a nature facing unit I was lied to plain and simple. Call it a mistake? This is where I was going to pay good money to be my home! On fist visit I was told of one unit facing nature. I walked over ,and although it was occupied, I could see the breezeway balcony and what it faced. I gave them the required $300 deposit and when I went to revisit the actual unit , after it was vacated even the floor plan was reversed. Not only was it not a view of the rails to trails walking path , it was a view of the parking lot. I respectfully asked Michelle for my deposit back and she said no. I explained to both her and the manager Jason that I didnt think it was right since it essentially was NOT the unit I was led to believe it was. Jason did offer to let us move if one like it became vacant even if it was against policy. It assent like all I was bringing was my toothbrush.The place is nice I will give them that, but their business ethic leaves a lot to be desired. I suppose my $300 will take them far . Im an honest hard working man who still believes , foolishly I suppose, that a handshake is a mans word to make good on a deal or promise. Im I saddened by this as now I must put another deposit on a place that hopefully wouldnt lie to me. Looks like you can believe the reviews . I gave them the benefit of the doubt and got nothing in return. If someone in higher authority ever reads this ,and believes in good business , and returned my deposit I would be happy to amend or remove this review. By the way, I didnt back out the day of move in or even two weeks before . It was a month before I was to move in. I still wonder if anyone reads these reviews but I do and I didnt listen. I gave the benefit of the doubt and Boyd decided that the $300 was worth more than the good will. Im 63 and retired and I guess I still believe that there are ethical business. Fool me once!

Good location with plenty of parking for residents and guests. The gym is very, very small (2 treadmills, stationary bike, 2 ellipticals) but saves us having to get a gym membership in the winter when it's too cold to run outside. All experience with management has shown they respond quickly to maintenance problems. The off-white walls were appreciated more than stark white ones as they give the place a cozier feel. Rent is accepted penalty-free up to five days late, though they make it quite hard to pay early as you can't pay your actual rent online until the first of every month (only water and sewer are posted prior to the 1st). Lots of closet space in larger models. However, the buildings appear to have been cheaply constructed, as our home has many, many cracks appearing on walls and ceilings. We get a large number of centipedes during non-winter months. Design is severely flawed, as the electric heater was placed in the closet of the bedroom on the second floor, which means the master bedroom is consistently too warm and we can't get the first floor to ever be the desired temperature. Expect very high energy bills without ever fully feeling "warm" in the winter in 2-story models. Water heater can't make it through two showers within a 2 hour period, and the second shower is always cold. The edges where the carpet meets the tiles are a dangerous place to step as you will end up with carpet needles in the bottom of your foot from subpar installation - wear slippers all the time. Currently water is calculated by building, so if you don't use a lot but your neighbors do, you will pay more that month.

The apartment was very small with only a small closet in the bedroom and a tiny cloak closet inside the entry door that had the water heater in it. The prices were going up by $155 a month after February/March. Not close to any transportation. A car was a must have.
