Lancaster Bible College was founded in 1933 with the aim of educating Christian students and inculcating the importance of serving the Church and society. The school is located in Lancaster,a city of nearly 60,000 residents in southeastern Pennsylvania. Student living in the city is enhanced by its maintenance of several art and history museums, professional and amateur sports teams and a rich history. Students from around the country find their way each year to student housing at Lancaster Bible College to engage with the community and pursue a variety of religious studies. Recently, enrollment has reached more than 1,100 students, many of whom elect to rent a college apartment in Lancaster.
Throughout its history, Lancaster Bible College has sustained a concentration on Biblical studies, while expanding into new areas. Traditional undergraduates in LBC student housing graduate with a Bachelor of Science degree in Bible. However, 25 undergraduate programs are available in departments including non-religious disciplines like Counseling and Social Work, Degree Completion, Health and Physical Education, Intercultural Studies, Teacher Education and Communications. The college's 200 or so graduate students may enroll in any of four masters programs, five graduate certificate programs or pursue a Doctorate in Leadership.
Students are encouraged to engage with the Lancaster community during their study period, and many choose to rent a college apartment in the neighborhood. Off campus housing is available throughout the area, and most convenient near Eden Road and the Oregon Pike, where the town's commercial district lies.
