Founded in 1954 by the Sisters of the Holy Family of Nazareth, Holy Family University retains a deep devotion to teach responsibility toward God, Self and Society as a cornerstone of student living. Despite this focus, the university offers accredited programs in a wide variety of disciplines centered around a robust liberal arts curriculum. Today, student housing at Holy Family University is located around the school's main campus in the Torresdale neighborhood of Philadelphia, as well as other Pennsylvania locations, such as Newtown, Bensalem and Quakertown. Nearly 3,400 undergraduate and graduate students matriculate at the institution, many of whom use a university apartment as the locus of extracurricular activity.
While Holy Family University offers a wide variety of majors and programs, the most popular among undergraduates include nursing, criminal justice, education and business. Graduate students commonly enroll at the university to study psychology, education, nursing, criminal justice and resources management. Additionally, in 2011, the school began attracting a new group to student living with its new Doctor of Education in Education in Educational Leadership and Professional Studies program.
