I lived in one of these duplexes for nearly 15 months. The location was convenient for me. The landscaping and snow removal services are excellent, as is the response time for repairs. I occupied an apartment that backed up to the hillside along Maple Hill Dr, so during the winter months the unit received little sunlight. The downsides, for me were the move in and move out experience. For context, I was the sole occupant, had no pets, and hung no pictures during my occupancy. My move-in was smooth; however, the issue I experienced was constantly finding animal fur clinging to my clothes. I immediately brought this to the attention of the property manager. I received an apology, but no offer to address the problem. I was told they do their best to have very clean units prior to occupany. At the time of move-out, I left the apartment clean. I was told cleaning, including carpets would occur and be deduced from my security deposit. I understood, because like many, I had rented before. However, the charge to clean, in my opinion, was high and consumed much of the security deposit. I respectfully brought this up with the property manager, but to no avail. Lastly, unless the lease agreement has been changed in the past few years, there is no provision for lease cancellation resulting from loss of employment or job relocation. I moved to Erie from another state where loss of employment or job relocation is a legal opt out clause. As it turned out, I was relocated and found the property manager to be very understanding. While I was still responsible for the remaining lease, the property manager worked the waiting list and found a new tenant within a few weeks.
I didn't had any issues while living in the apartments. The apartments are beautiful and service requests were quickly addressed. My issues were when I moved out. Our unit was in excellent condition. I had a maid that came on weekly basis to clean-up my unit, in fact, she is the same person that does the final cleaning on the apartment after you move out. They took almost half of my deposit saying that carpets needed to be professionally cleaned, that the holes in the wholes from hanging painting were so many that it took them 4 hours to cover them and re-paint, they charged me a cleaning fee, It was amazing to me that a unit that was well kept, that was well cleaned they took half of my deposit. If you take these apartments asume you will NOT get your deposit back
