Hello, I am a 22-year-old college student who stayed at Home Properties of Devon over my internship term during the summer of 2017. I want to start out by saying this is by far the absolute worst organization I have ever done an extended amount of business with. I have been in and out of pretty sorry living situations at college and other places and this definitely takes the cake for worst apartments in the world. For the sake of time I am going to list off mine, as well as others, reasons why no one with enough brain power to register what I am saying should ever consider moving into these apartments. These issues are stack ranked in the order that I see most problematic.
1. MANAGEMENT - To start I will say that the people in the office are nice and as helpful as they can be... except for one (refer to next section). However, the company or person(s) involved in overseeing the entire operation that is Home Properties of Devon are of the absolute lowest caliber. Based on the reasons which I have listed below it is not hard to see that the regard for customer concerns is non-existent. The reason I listed this as first is because it doesn't take a rocket scientist to discover that any organization with poor upper management is not likely, but guaranteed to fail.
2. PAYMENTS - Here's where I'll start with this one... Unless you want to mail a cashier's check in to Ms. Patty at the local Postal Station next to the general store then you're going to pay using their online service. I'll be honest - this website is more sketchy and lower budget than the website of the local coffee shop next to my house. Your options for online payments are:
Credit Card - $30 surcharge
Debit Card - $9.99 surcharge
The only two times I had to make a payment for my bill for this company I was charged a late fee on both occasions ($140.00 or as some like to call it, highway robbery) The reason for this late fee is because I allegedly did not pay my bill on time (which isn't posted anywhere
Nice landscaping, quick maintenance, and clean buildings from the outside. Maintenance does a good job with snow removal. Friendly staff.
