DeSales University, located in Center Valley, Pennsylvania, a small community where student living takes place among the natural vistas as well as in the classroom. The school first opened in 1964, known as the Allentown College of St. Francis de Sales. DeSales University has expanded significantly throughout its short history, but has retained an affiliation with the Oblates of St. Francis de Sales as well as the basic teachings of the order. With this philosophical focus, the university has attracted young scholars to student housing by gradually increasing its course offerings. In 1984, the institution began to grant masters degrees, and in 2001, it officially became recognized as a university.
Nearly 2,500 students are currently enrolled at DeSales University, pursuing a wide range of degrees. Undergraduates in student housing are offered Bachelor of Arts, Bachelor of Science and Bachelor of Science in Nursing programs, together spanning more than 30 academic disciplines. In addition, university apartments in the area are often occupied by graduate students who may focus on the fields of business, education, technology, nursing, physician assistant and criminal justice. The 2011 edition of Best Colleges from US News & World Report ranked DeSales University as 67th in the "Universities-Master's (North)" category.

Near campus, students with a university apartment are known to frequent the Copperhead Grille for beverages, food and sports, or the Pennsylvania Shakespeare Festival for a little drama.
