Founded in 1867, Cedar Crest College is a historic landmark in its hometown of Allentown, Pennsylvania. Cedar Crest, a women’s liberal arts institution, is one of the two colleges in Allentown, along with Muhlenberg College, making student housing ample and an attractive option. Student living at CCC is uniquely intimate, benefiting from small class sizes and a tradition in which all new students introduce themselves on the steps of one of the campus buildings. This closeness extends into the local community where students are invited to rent a college apartment that suits their changing lifestyle needs.
While Cedar Crest College has grown steadily throughout its history, its current enrollment rests at a modest 1,000 full-time undergraduates, with an additional 800 part-time students and about 85 graduate students. Those in Cedar Crest student housing may earn a bachelors degree in any of more than 50 majors, ranging from Fine Arts and Environmental Biology to Nursing Science and Business Administration. Graduate students, who typically gravitate to off campus housing, can work toward master’s degrees in Nursing, Education and Forensic Science.
CCC’s campus lies in a pleasant area of Allentown, drawing many otherwise wary students to a college apartment. The campus is adjacent to the city’s Cedar Beach Park, a sprawling stretch of green space, bisected by Cedar Creek, and a number of jogging and biking trails. For a change of scenery, there’s also the Pastachio Bar and Grill, located just off campus.
